All Things You Need To Know About The Human Penis
The penis is a male sexual organ for copulation or sexual function and urination. This male organ reaches its full size during or after puberty stage.
The penis is composed of several parts which are the following:
Glans – This can also be called as the head of the penis.
To those men who did not undergo circumcision, the glans is covered with mucosa or a pink moist tissue. The glans has a covering called prepruce or the foreskin. To those circumcised men, foreskin is removed through surgical operation and the pink moist tissue or mucosa in the penis transforms into a dry skin.
Corpus Cavernosum – This part is composed of two columns of tissues located along the side of the penis. During sexual activities, blood runs along the tissues which would then result to an erection.
Corpus Spongiosum – Also composed of tissues that are sponge-like in shape. The tissue runs along the front of the penis and ends at the glans. The corpus Spongiosum is filled with blood during an erection which keeps the urethra that runs along it, open.
When a man becomes sexually aroused or when on sexual intercourse, the blood flow in the penis changes and as a result, erection happens. This is because the nerves cause the blood vessels in the penis to expand, allowing more blood to flow to the penis. More blood flows in and less flows out of the penis, making the tissues in the corpus cavernosum to harden.
STRUCTURES OF THE MALE SEXUAL ORGAN
The male organ is also composed of several structures and these are the following:
Outer foreskin layer – This structure is the continuation of the skin of the penis’ shaft.
Inner foreskin layer – A mucocutaneous tissue that is found only in the penis.
Ridged Band – The ridged band somewhat joins the outer foreskin layer and the inner foreskin layer. When the penis is not erected, the ridged band tightens which causes to narrow the opening of the foreskin. On the other hand, when a man is sexually aroused, this penis structure forms ridges that goes all the way around or about halfway from the shaft of the penis.
Frenulum or frenum – can be compared to that part beneath a person’s tongue. It is a connecting membrane underside the male sexual organ.
Urethra – a part of the urinary tract which is a passage for both urine and semen ejaculation.
During ejaculation, sperm are pushed in the vas deferens. Vas deferens are two ducts that are behind the bladder.
The Raphe – almost same as the ridged band, the raphe is also a visible ridge that is located between the lateral halves of the male sexual organ. It can be found underside the penis. The raphe runs from the opening of the urethra or the meatus across the scrotum to the area between the anus and the scrotum.
The human penis differs from mostly those other mammals since human penis does not have baculum, orerectile bone. The erection just relies entirely on the blood flow to the penis.
However, if there are disorders, a man may experience some difficulty with regard to achieving the full state of erection of their penis. They may also get to experience a hard time in sustaining the erection.
This disorder is called erectile dysfunction. Aside from erectile dysfunction, there are still a lot more penile disorders that a man may never want to experience such as having a relatively low count of testosterone – a male hormone which gives them powerful sexual drive or urge.
Peyronie’s disease is also one sexual male disorder that can be developed while still on the womb of the mother. This is due to chromosomal issues.
With this matter, it is highly advised that men should never put their sexual health at risk. As much as possible, seek for a Doctor’s advice if you notice that there is something wrong with your sexual health. Ask for medications if there is and make sure to follow those.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle, eat the right foods, have proper diet and exercise. Through this, you can be assured that you are safe from getting any undesired sexual disorders.
